A Pop of Luxury

DSC_1336 DSC_1362 DSC_1344 DSC_1352 DSC_1354 DSC_1356 DSC_1334 DSC_1384 DSC_1386 DSC_1394 IMG_7664 DSC_1415 DSC_1408

As someone who has a closet full of neutrals, black and white, I am always looking for a way to add a pop of color – a great sweater, jewelry, a bright skirt, etc..  I do the same thing in my house with flowers or art.  For me, the trick is spending my money on neutral, staple items that I can wear often and for many years and then adding these “pops of color” which tend to be trendier items, purchased on sale or from less expensive stores.

This same theory applies to adding designer/luxury items to your curated closet. Just as you add pops of color to your wardrobe, you can add pops of luxury the same way.  This outfit: the sweater and the pants, are a very typical work outfit for me because it is comfortable and professional.  However, on the average day, I do not wear loubs to work or this much jewelry, (those red bottoms are gorgeous but I do NOT know how Carrie Bradshaw walked around in heels 24/7).

On a normal Monday I would pair this outfit with black pointy flats and perhaps some stud earrings and that would be it. But an extra special work meeting, post-work dinner with the girls, or an early date night with the Mr. requires something a little more special than the average work outfit.  So when I can plan ahead, I pack a few extra items with me in the morning when I head to work, so that I can add the special pops before my meeting or event.

Bag Borrow or Steal presents the perfect opportunity to add a pop of luxury (and even a pop of color) to your curated closet without having to spend your entire paycheck. Let’s be real, I might love to have a closet full of enough designer bags so that I can wear a new bag each month, but this is neither economical nor practical, (at least not post law school – oh hello school loans!). Bag Borrow or Steal gives me the ability to play out this fantasy without the financial commitment.  This YSL sac de jour has been my bag crush for ages now and it was so exciting to finally be able to wear it, (and it was certainly worth the wait – I high-fived the UPS guy when I signed for the package).

Happy Monday everybody! Hope you had the most wonderful weekend!!

XOXO – Em
