Moments in our New House

We’ve been in our house for a month now. We’re unpacked and settling in and slowly going through the process of making this place “our home.”

Smeg Toaster | Our Everyday Dishes

Our house was brand new and finished when we bought it, so we were not able to choose finishes or hardware or appliances or anything like that. It’s a beautiful, modern, blank slate for us to put our touches on. But as anyone else who just bought a house can sympathize with – it’s an expensive and slow process to find and buy furniture and change the things that you want to change. There are quite a few changes that I want to make but I’m not going to start on those until we’ve moved in properly. The garden needs lots of work doing to it and I’d like to get new fencing installed too. I’ve been learning a bit about vinyl fences and they seem like a good option for our garden. But as I said, these changes won’t be happening for a while.

No room is really “finished” except for Beck’s room. We don’t have a deadline to finish any one room in particular, but we’re enjoying the process.

It’s hard to describe the feeling of what it’s like to move into your own home, and having the chance to decorate it any way you want to. Nothing can come close to it. From some of the smallest things like looking for Teppich nach Maß bei Topteppiche.de, (a custom made rug at TopTeppiche.de) or somewhere similar, to buying all of the furniture for your house, there is just so much to get done. But do you know what? This is what helps to make your house a home, and I’d quite happily do it as often as I need to, to ensure that I get this absolutely right.

Since we moved in and I’ve been sharing glimpses into our home on Instagram, I’ve gotten requests to show more of the house. So here are a few images, I tried to link a few things in the images, but if you have questions about anything that isn’t linked, comment below or send me an email and I will try to find it.

Gorgeous home! You have done an incredible job! I do have a question, where is the little ottoman/pouf from that’s in Beck’s room? Thank you! 🙂

I LOVE that ottoman. We got it from a store in Columbus, Ohio called Fourth Home. But I’ve found it on other sites but they’re ALL sold out. Search HomArt Indigo Batik Pouf – I’ve even seen it sold at Wall-Mart (but sold out).
