I feel like I always end up wearing black dresses when I attend weddings as a guest. Just seems easy but formal, like I can hold eloquent conversations with your parents’ friends but then I’ll take my shoes off and dance for 2 hours….haha! I was always told never wear white to a wedding as this color is for the bride only, so at least with my dress choices there’s never any risk of that happening! Wedding dresses are the ones that need to stand out (if you’re getting married soon why not check out www.winniecouture.com/stores/wedding-dresses-chicago-il for wedding dress inspiration!) so I always find that as long as I look the part in a guest dress, I’m ready to party and celebrate!
But, in trying to break up the monotony of black clad wedding attendees, I opted for a navy blue + pale blue shift dress with a tie-belt. One of the coolest aspects of this dress, and the major reason I chose it, is that it can be worn a number of different ways. The pale blue panel can be worn in the front or the back and the tie belt can be added, or not – depending on how you would like it to look.
I LOVED the navy part of the dress in the front and the pale blue panel in the back. I wore it with the belt to the wedding, because I thought it dressed the whole look up a little more, but it would have been perfectly elegant with a high bun or a sleek pony without the belt and just the light blue panel worn in the back. It is soft, basically wrinkle free (hung it in the bathroom while I showered for 5 minutes and it was PERFECT), and is so wonderfully well-made. I was already a big fan of Kora Rae but needless to say, they have a fan for life now.
