Good Morning my dears!! Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend and that you’re ready to kick some butt this week!
This week, I’ve teamed up with Albion to giveaway two $50 gift cards for you and your bestie! I will get to the details on how to win at the end of this post, but first I wanted to talk about my general fitness/health routine, and what I do on a weekly basis to try and stay healthy. (DISCLAIMER: obviously I cheat on this sometimes, because, as well all know – life happens and from time to time you need to eat hot dogs and donuts instead of going to the gym).
1. Drink LOTS of water – I didn’t always do such a great job of this, but I have gotten better and it is amazing the difference it makes in your body. I drink a full glass of warm or room temperature water every morning when I wake up. If I’m feeling fancy I’ll put a slice of lemon in my water and heat it up – really helps get your digestive system going in the morning which makes EVERYBODY feel better!
2. I try to do at least 30 minutes of exercise every day. Try to find some comfortable workout clothes for women first, you’ll thank me later! Even if I can just walk to lunch from my office or take the dog on a little job after work or just do 30 minutes of My Home Routine* (below) – I find that it really helps to get my endorphins going.
3. I don’t do a great job of getting myself out of bed in the morning to work out. I wish I did, but I am much more energized at night than I am at 6am. But I found that when I committed to a 4-week bootcamp class that was held in the mornings, that I always showed up for that. I need to be held accountable in order to show up that early to the gym. I need someone to text me and say, “well where were you this morning…?” So if I sign up for a class in the mornings, I am MUCH more likely to go. And I really like the way I feel during the day after I worked out in the morning.
4. Recently, I have been taking a Yoga class once a week (1 hour) and a Yoga/Pilates class (1 hour) once a week as well. I am obsessed with the workout that comes with the Yoga/Pilates combo class, and my mind just needs the Yoga class to reset and destress at the end of the week, (I normally take my Yoga class on Friday’s right after work).
5. I try not to eat too late, but it happens more than I would like to admit – so on nights when we have to eat late, (if we work late), we try to eat something healthier – like lettuce wraps, or a lean protein and veggies on the grill. And again – tons of water.
6. I’m not a big dessert person – I’ll eat nachos and Chipotle all day, but I don’t get super excited about ice cream and cake, (I know – I’m weird), but at least I think this helps with my general health, since the body is not designed to process so much sugar.
7. Finally, I do like to change up my workouts as often as possible so that I don’t get bored, but here is a sample workout that I do at the gym and one that you can do at home.
At The Gym (1 hour)
- 15 minutes on the treadmill, at an incline and just fast enough to be out of breath by the end of the time period.
- Walking lunges with 8 pound weights in each hand, held down by your side. I do this from one wall to another at my gym and I think it is probably about 20 lunges total (ten on each leg).
- 15 squat thrusts with the 8 pound weights. It’s easy, you just squat, holding the weights in each hand near your shoulders and then when you stand up, you raise your arms up straight, holding the weights. When you squat down again, bring the weights back towards your shoulders.
- 20 sit ups. I lay completely flat on my back, raise my arms straight up towards the ceiling and as I sit up, I keep my fingers always facing towards the ceiling – that way, my abs and back are doing all the work.
- 50 bicycle crunches
- 20 exercise ball handoffs. Lay flat on your back with the big exercise ball between your feet. Squeeze your feet together so you can raise the exercise ball up towards the ceiling with your legs. Reach your arms up and grab the exercise ball. Lower your legs back to the ground and lower your arms back to the ground holding the exercise ball. Then repeat.
- 10 burpees. My least favorite part…I have to bribe myself to do them.
- Repeat this 2 more times. (3x total).
- Rowing machine for 8 minutes.
- Stretch
My Home Routine (30 mins)
- 100 jumping jacks
- 2 minute plank
- 20 sit ups (see above)
- 50 bicycle crunches
- 20 leg raises. (Lay flat on the floor and bend at the waist to raise your legs).
- 10 jump squats. Squat like normal but jump when you rise up.
- 10 burpees. (if I don’t talk myself out of it first)
- Repeat 1 more time. (2x total)
- Stretch
Those are just samples, like I said, I try to switch up the exercises so that I don’t get bored, but the idea is still the same: start with cardio, do legs, do abs, do arms and then stretch.

Using the gym at work everyday during the week is how I try to stay fit and healthy!
I upped my Fitbit steps to 11,000 so even on a boring day I am motivated to do just a little more than ‘normal’ throughout the day!
I’ve finally switched up my workout routine and rarely use the treadmill at an incline (and read a magazine)…I know, sad day. I’m actually doing 30 min workouts that make me sweat (a little) 3x a week and of course yoga and dog walks/hikes. I can’t wait to explore Park City with you in a few weeks!!
I take a Zumba class to stay healthy and get energized π

My healthy tip before gym or any other workout rutine I drink warm water with some drops of lemon. Also drink infuse water (water + fruits + herbs) it’s and amazing option,it boost my metabolism,it’s a great way to drink your 8 glasses a day.I carry my bottle everywhere.

I stay healthy by getting a good night’s sleep and staying properly hydrated.
I try to keep the gym fun by attending classes with a friend. You will always show up because you hold each other accountable but you also encourage each other in class!
I teach Fitness classes! It’s much easier for me to stay motivated (and creative) when I know I have the responsibility to motivate others as well.
