Happy Valentine’s Day my dears! I am a HUGE proponent of DIY Valentine’s Day gifts, decorations and date ideas. In college, my roommates and I would spend HOURS cutting out paper hearts and taping them all over the house, and I have been continuing the tradition ever since. And while in college I was more excited about “Galentines,” now that I’m married, I prefer to have some good alone time with my boo, since we are both so busy during the week.
Last year I made sushi before Nick came home from work. Nothing fancy, just sashimi and nigiri using fish that I bought from the good fishmonger at our local farmers market. I put music on and drank and wine and danced around the kitchen while I made it. Once Nick got home, we ate sushi and had Pocky Sticks for dessert, then we laughed and played with the dog and watched a movie and it was so incredibly perfect. Writing it out like this sounds so lame, I’m sure, because it sounds so ordinary. But I think it’s these ordinary moments like this that really stand out in my mind because that is what I want for the rest of our marriage – this wonderful, comfortable, ordinary, obsessive love. I am so thankful to have found someone who loves me the way that Nick does, and I finally feel like I am a whole now that I’m with him.
What do you all have planned for Valentine’s Day?!
This dress I’m wearing is sold out, so I linked to four gorgeous similar dresses below:

What!!! No LOVE for the V-day post?
I don’t care what anyone says, a holiday that celebrates LOVE is fantastic. Forget the chintzy teddy bears and boxes of chocolate… you’re right on the money with thoughtful, DIY gifts and doing something a little fun and flirty for your boo.
Hilarious about the Pocky Stix. We carb loaded on waffle grilled cheese sandwiches from a Hollywood diner for our Valentine’s dinner. And then we had a flight of mini waffles for dessert.
It doesn’t have to be fancy, but why the heck not celebrate it?
XOXO,
